About me

My name is Mathieu Perren, and I’m a 13 year old Swiss wakesurfer. I discovered wakesurfing when I was 9 years old.

Together with my father, we ventured into this new sport by ballasting our old boat with large barrels filled with water, creating a wave big enough to surf.

Wakesurfing quickly became not just a passion but an addiction, especially after I joined the Mastercraft Swiss team in 2023. That year, I began competing and managed to land on the podium six times.

Apart from wakesurfing, I’m also an avid skier and snowboarder during the winter months. However, one unique aspect about me is my love for all kinds of old-fashioned things, particularly vintage cars. When it comes to music, I have a fondness for classic bands like Queen. Listening to their iconic hits while wakesurfing is an experience like no other.

« I enjoy wakesurfing because I appreciate the refreshing feeling of the water. I’m not a fan of feeling hot, so hitting the water for some wakesurfing where it’s nice and cool is my idea of heaven… »

Something I absolutely love is bodyboarding

Bodywake: This exciting aquatic discipline is growing day by day. What makes it truly special is the sense of community it fosters. It brings together people of all ages, genders, and abilities in a unique experience.

The exhilarating sense of speed you feel while riding a bodyboard is often more intense than on a surfboard. Plus, waves always seem bigger from a bodyboard. Riding a wave on your belly puts everything into perspective and adds a cool dimension to the entire experience.

Sharing a passion for wakesurfing

Sharing the passion of wakesurfing with my sister Abygaelle and our parents is truly special. It’s not just about riding the waves together, but about the bonds we create and the memories we make as a family. We challenge each other with new tricks, cheering each other on as improving our skills.

Wakesurfing has brought us closer together as siblings and strengthened our family bond, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
